The
Apex Pro from Casella has proven to be a great personal sampling pump. It
datalogs, and at 16 oz., it's a third lighter than other well-known pumps.
The unit draws from 5mL per minute to 5L per minute and operates on Nickel
Metal Hydride batteries instead of memory-susceptible NiCads. The drop-in
charging cradle means no longer having to deal with broken charger pins. The
Apex has been a workhorse rental unit for us and is available with and
without third-party approvals for intrinsic safety. |

pretty much owns the calibration market with the DC-Lite Dry Calibrator.
There are those who still have to get up at 4:30 am on sampling days to
calibrate their equipment with bubble-up primary standards, but be thankful
you do not have to be one of them. The DC-Lite makes calibration a quick,

The Casella Microdust
Pro makes aerosol monitoring much simpler. The ergonomic design minimizes
the stress of carrying around a real-time aerosol monitor for site tours.
The Microdust Pro's datalogging memory is complemented by a large LCD and
real-time graphing capability that frees the user to glance down
periodically to catch spikes, retracing steps to the source. Daily zeroing

for heat stress monitoring. Nonetheless, Casella brings to the Microtherm

ergonomic design, accessible datalogging and realtime graphing make the

Casella's Dose Badge is a
cost-effective, lightweight alternative to traditional dosimeters. The
Calibrator / Reader not only calibrates the Dose Badge, but controls and
collects data from it. Simply insert a Dose Badge into the Calibrator /
Reader and push CAL. After 10 seconds of calibration, pin the Dose Badge to
the worker and from a few inches away, push RUN on the Calibrator / Reader.
An infrared signal instructs the Dose Badge to begin sampling and
datalogging. No buttons for the worker to push or liquid crystal
display to display data for the worker to misinterpret. All control is in
the hands of the EHS professional. Easy, lightweight, and much less
expensive. |

A Sound Level Meter (SLM) with
Octave Band Filter is a useful tool for an EHS professional to characterize
noise by its constituent frequencies. Knowing exactly what makes up a
particular noise source is invaluable in effectively and inexpensively
engineering its abatement. However, in a dynamic noise setting results can
change as the instrument scrolls through the whole or third-octave bands.
